We provide psychotherapy services to adolescents, adults, and couples in both Davis and Sacramento. We specialize in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches to treating anxiety and depression.
If you choose a Three Rivers therapist, it will be helpful to understand that even when engaged in individual therapy, we don’t approach it as a strictly “individual” project. Part of therapy, whether couples or individual, is about helping each individual come fully, authentically alive in a way that is uniquely “them.” The other part is about helping that individual to connect to others from that aliveness. Our individual wellbeing begins to break down when, for whatever reason, we feel disconnected, different, or experience a lack of supportive relationships. In both individual and couples therapy, we place significant focus on helping our clients feel greater satisfaction, security, and support in their primary relationships.
One particularly important relationship in the process of therapy is the therapist-client relationship. This relationship, at it’s best is a kind of “safe adventure,” where one can feel seen, validated, and supported in trying new ways of being. You can expect us to be supportive, authentic, and present with you, while also inviting you to consider new perspectives and ideas.
In order to fully see and understand our clients, we understand the need for attunement to environmental and contextual issues affecting mental health and wellbeing, including but not limited to gender identity or expression, ethnic or racial identity, sexual identity, nationality, and family culture and tradition.
